Why Do We Use a Multibuy Model?


At Corset Story, we offer two types of Multibuy offers: a 3 for 1 deal with free returns/exchanges (perfect for new customers) and an occasional 4 for 1 deal (better suited for returning customers, as this offer doesn’t include returns/exchanges). If you’re new and we’re running the 4 for 1 offer, you can still order just 3 corsets to qualify for free returns/exchanges automatically.

But why a Multibuy model instead of selling corsets individually at a lower price? Here’s why:



1. Protecting Our Tailors and Their Craft

All Corset Story designs are handmade in our bespoke factory in Delhi, India. Unlike bulk production lines used by fast-fashion brands, we operate on a tailor-made production line with highly skilled artisans who can produce unique, high-quality pieces. Here’s why this matters:

  • Tailor-made factories focus on quality, not quantity, which ensures superior craftsmanship.
  • Our tailors are well-compensated (above industry standards), work only 48-hour weeks, and enjoy fair, consistent working conditions—many have been with us for over 15 years.
  • We’ve invested heavily in training, innovation, and supporting our tailors, which allows us to offer you the best quality corsets.

By maintaining a steady flow of orders through our Multibuy offers, we ensure our talented team remains busy (but not overwhelmed) and continues producing exceptional garments.



2. Cost of Shipping

We now ship directly from our factory in India to customers worldwide, using premium insured services like DHL, UPS, and FedEx. This method reduces our environmental impact compared to our previous UK-based warehouse model, especially for international orders. However, shipping 3 corsets (around 3kg) via express services is costly—more than double what we charge customers for delivery.

On top of shipping, there are other costs like marketing, returns, and transaction fees, which average around $60 per order. The Multibuy model helps spread these costs across multiple items, offering you better value while allowing us to maintain our standards.



3. Quality at a Reasonable Price

Our corsets are priced at a 75% margin, which is standard for luxury-quality garments. A single Corset Story corset priced at £130 (including taxes) aligns with other high-quality brands. However, selling individual corsets would make it challenging to cover fixed costs and sustain our factory.

By offering Multibuy deals, we balance affordability for customers and the financial health of our factory. Plus, this model ensures more customers experience the incredible value and craftsmanship of Corset Story corsets.



4. The Numbers Behind Multibuy

It’s true—on some orders, we make little to no profit or even lose money. For example, when a customer orders 4 identical corsets, the margins aren’t high enough to cover production and fixed costs. However, we balance this with orders where customers choose a variety of garments at different price points, making the Multibuy model sustainable for us.
